Cash on Balance Sheet
This heatmap represents an overview of the short and long term cash reserves of the 500 largest non-financial global companies as reported by Bloomberg in August 2012.
The dark blue represents the region with highest cash on balance sheet, and light blue the region with lowest. Headline cash on balance sheets can be viewed by country by clicking on the regions. The figures can also be viewed by sector by clicking on the sector tab at the top and by the buttons along the bottom and can also be filtered by region and country for each sector.
Methodology: To compile this data we looked at the latest filed accounts of the top 500 global corporates, excluding financial institutions. From those accounts we took the reported amounts for Cash & Near Cash, Marketable Securities & Other Short Term Investments as well as Long Term Investments which were analysed by country and region as a whole as well as per Industry.
